John Schembari, Ed.D.

Senior Educational Consultant

John Schembari, Ed.D. is a Senior Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters with an expertise in instructional pedagogy, leadership facilitation, and systems management.  In this position, he supports educators in strengthening their best-in-class teaching practices and advancing students’ reading and writing skills across all subject areas. As an Assessment Matters coach, John assists educators in strategically using data – while targeting instruction – and also has served as a virtual coach in the Emerging Teacher Leader program.  

Prior to joining Teaching Matters, John was a teacher, founding principal of an urban magnet high school, and a K-12 district academic officer in New Jersey. He also has served as a leadership development facilitator with New Visions for Public Schools, in New York City, and as Director of Professional Learning within the national Cristo Rey School Network headquarted in Chicago.  He has earned a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, a Masters in School Supervision and Administration from Montclair State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Seton Hall University.
