Jamie Hernandez is a Senior Educational Consultant at Teaching Matters with expertise in elementary literacy, data-driven instruction and early childhood education. Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Jamie was a school leader and founding teacher at a charter school in Washington, DC. Over the course of nine years there, Jamie taught kindergarten, was an instructional coach, and lastly served as assistant principal for four years.
Jamie holds a BA in Elementary Education and MA in Special Education both from The Catholic University of America. She also holds an MS in School Leadership from Trinity Washington University. Her graduate studies and work as a school leader sparked her interest in adult learning theories and coaching best practices. Jamie has recently moved to New York City from Washington, DC with her husband and son. A native New Yorker and happy to be back home, Jamie spends weekends exploring the city with her family.
