Althea Headlam

Althea Headlam is a Senior Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters with an expertise in elementary math.  In this position, she supports educators in understanding math content and implementing effective pedagogical strategies to build students’ conceptual understanding of mathematics. Althea also supports teacher teams to effectively engage in the inquiry process while utilizing assessments and data to target instruction and improve student learning.

Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Althea was a teacher, assessment coordinator, and assistant school leader at Brooklyn schools.  She has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from Boston University and a Masters in Education from Brooklyn College. She also holds certifications in Math Leadership and Educational Leadership.
