Virtual Instructional Coach
Nithya Vasudevan is a Virtual Coach with Teaching Matters. As an equity-focused and passionate STEM educator and coach for the past decade, Nithya has experience developing and delivering culturally responsive curricula, facilitating meetings to drive institutional goals, and managing administrative tasks in public and private schools both domestically and internationally.
Nithya started her journey in K-12 schools as a NYC Teaching Fellow working as a Regents Earth Science educator in a South Bronx high school. Since then, she has taught courses across the sciences in private middle and high schools in Guangzhou, China, Quito, Ecuador, and most recently, a public charter high school based in San Francisco. Throughout her tenure in schools as a teacher leader, she has crafted and run professional development trainings for colleagues, led grade-level teams in adopting standards-based assessment practices, mentored and coached student teachers, and fostered vertical alignment across grade levels using NGSS science standards. In Nithya’s current work as a Field Supervisor with UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Education, she holds justice at the center of her coaching as she provides quality feedback to student teachers in STEM on their growth as practitioners.
