Senior Educational Consultant
Manny Algarin is a Senior Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters driven by a vision that one day all students will have equitable and equal access to engaging, rigorous, joyful, and meaningful instruction that empowers and prepares all members of school communities to thrive academically, personally, and socially now and in the future. His area of expertise is middle school literacy and instructional leadership. In this position, he supports teachers, leaders, and school teams to inform instruction with data, implement strategies that improve students’ reading and writing skills, develop practices that meet the needs of all learners, reflect on impact and performance, and create safe, inclusive, and rigorous learning environments. Manny also has experience writing middle school Common Core aligned ELA curriculum, developing plans for small group instruction, establishing and realizing a vision for school climate, and building capacity in teacher leaders to coach teachers and facilitate professional development.
Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Manny has taught as a middle school ELA teacher in Newark and Jersey City. He served as an instructional leader and school administrator for middle schools in Brooklyn and Paterson. He earned a Masters in Education with a specialization in Out of School Time Leadership from Lesley University and a Bachelors in Philosophy and Economics from Rutgers University. He is currently a doctoral student in New Jersey City University’s Educational Technology Leadership program.
