Senior Educational Consultant
Katie Ilacqua is a Senior Educational Consultant with Early Reading Matters. In this role, she supports educators in developing the content knowledge and pedagogy to improve student literacy. Partnering with school leaders, teachers, and teacher teams to collaboratively analyze data and use formative assessment to drive instruction is a critical component of her work.
Prior to joining Teaching Matters Katie served as a K-3 ELA and Math Interventionist and Classroom Teacher in Boston Public Schools. During that time she created a framework for targeted, tiered interventions for children below grade level in math and ELA at failing and Turnaround schools. Katie also served as a Site Manager for Jumpstart, an early education non-profit, and trained college students from Fordham University to implement an early literacy intervention curriculum in program partner preschools in the Bronx. Most recently, Katie was Director of Community Impact at Jumpstart, supporting a portfolio of national community impact programs, as well as teacher preparation programs in NYC, San Francisco, and Arizona.
Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Human Development as well as a Masters in Education from The Boston College Lynch School of Education and Human Development.
