“Be the change you wish to see in the world” was the call to action from Melanie Lockett’s high school Social Studies teacher that served as the catalyst for her educational journey. Ms. Lockett is a K-12 English Language Arts Coordinator from Georgia. She is a former Instructional Coach, and forever a Teacher. Melanie graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She began her teaching career as a fifth grade teacher in Macon, Georgia. As an English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher Ms. Lockett enjoyed integrating the subject areas to support student transfer, engagement, and learning. One of her proudest moments was being named the Monroe County 2014 District Teacher of the Year. After transferring to the Middle School, she received her Education Specialist degree in Curriculum & Instruction at Georgia College & State University. Ms. Lockett has a passion for English Language Arts, instructional coaching, curriculum development, and teacher and leader development. She is currently a doctoral student at Auburn University. Melanie enjoys planning for and facilitating professional learning sessions, reading, writing, shopping, and traveling. Ms. Lockett’s desire is to draw out, inspire, and develop the best and highest within people from the inside out.
