Senior Educational Consultant
Mary Barnes is a Senior Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters with an expertise in mathematics education and assessment. Mary works closely with educators and administrators in designing units, lessons and authentic mathematical tasks, and supports teachers with instructional best practices needed to implement a rigorous mathematics curriculum. She also supports teachers and school leaders with analysis of student performance data, enhancement of assessment practices, and design of responsive remediation and enrichment strategies.
Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Mary worked as a mathematics teacher, instructional coach and was a founding administrator at the first open access International Baccalaureate high school in the Bronx. Mary holds a BA in Mathematics from SUNY Albany, a MA in Mathematics Education from Lehman College and MS in School Leadership from Mercy College.
