LaMonica Williams is a Senior Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters with an expertise in elementary literacy. In this position, she supports educators in strengthening the skills of their earliest readers; and assists teachers and leaders to strategically use data to target instruction and advance students’ reading and writing abilities. LaMonica also has extensive experience writing K – 5 Common Core aligned ELA curriculum and training teacher leaders to run highly effective classrooms and teams.
Prior to joining Teaching Matters, LaMonica was a teacher, instructional coach, and school administrator at a high performing elementary school in New York City. She then went on to be an instructional leader and founding member of a new school in the south Bronx where over 90 percent of students were reading on grade level by 2nd grade. She has earned a dual Bachelors Degree in Communication and Spanish from Syracuse University and a Masters in Childhood Education from Hunter College.
