Senior HR Manager
Gopika Desai is a seasoned HR Professional with over 15 years leading HR teams to provide business solutions on time. Prior to joining Teaching Matters, she worked at a nonprofit substance use treatment provider to help them navigate their expansion from a HR perspective and manage the HR function. She also helped them navigate the many employer and staff needs that arose because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Gopika’s areas of expertise include recruitment, employee recognition, employee relations, payroll, compliance, compensation and performance management. Throughout her career, she has successfully led HR initiatives to align HR with the business strategy and help build a high performance organizational culture. She has experience in partnering and coaching senior leaders and management in start-up environments, pharmaceutical and not for profit. She is comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast paced/multiple project environment.
Gopika earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Montclair State University and a Masters of Science in Human Resources Management from the Milano School of Policy, Management and Environment. She is also certified through the train-the trainer program from the Cultural Intelligence Center in Unconscious Bias and Cultural Intelligence in 2020.
