Director of Service Design
Dr. Jennie Brotman is the Director of Service Design at Teaching Matters and leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our professional learning services. Jennie brings expertise in program design and science education and served as a Senior Educational Consultant at Teaching Matters for many years, supporting teachers and school leaders in enacting and sustaining high quality instruction and assessment across subject areas.
Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Jennie was a middle school science teacher, taught preservice and inservice teachers as an adjunct faculty member at Barnard College, and led professional development and curriculum development work in numerous New York City public schools. She has also conducted and published research focused on gender and science education, as well as on urban high school students’ learning and decision-making about controversial science issues. Jennie holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in Science Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
