Chyna Pollard is a Senior Educational Consultant with Teaching Matters, with an expertise in Early Childhood Education and a passion for equitable education for students in historically and presently marginalized communities. Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Chyna taught kindergarten, first, second and third grade before becoming an early literacy coach for K-5 teachers. Her time in the classroom fuels her passion for student driven instructional design and using multiple data points to inform instruction. Her childhood experiences in both urban and suburban communities made her aware of the educational differences in these two communities and helped fuel a drive to close the opportunity gap for all students. Her goal everyday in this role is to be a support to teachers who have the most important job of all! She has worked with schools in Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Chyna holds a BS in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Bowie State University and a MA, Ed in Literacy Education from Loyola University Maryland.

Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Chyna has lived in Maryland but happily moved back to New Jersey 2016 and has been enjoying being closer to family and friends.
