Susan Faxon joined the Teaching Matters board in 2018 after supporting public schools for decades. Her passion developed as an undergraduate at Brown University, where she majored in Urban Studies and which brought into focus the unique set of challenges faced by public schools in inner cities.
After a career in consulting and marketing, Susan decided to leave the corporate world and focus on education-based initiatives with roles in public school volunteering, fundraising and communications work. She served as a trustee on the Harrison Educational Foundation in New York, which works to expand and enhance creative teaching and learning experiences through community and district partnerships. She also served on the board of a youth athletics program, serves as a college mentor and volunteers in local social service organizations. Susan has a BA from Brown University and an MBA from Columbia University.
