NEW YORK CITY & Metro Region, Business Development Associate

Teaching Matters is looking to aggressively expand the implementation of all of our coaching services in New York City and the Metropolitan Region and is seeking a full-time Business Development Associate to join our team. We are particularly interested in an Associate to expand our client base for our comprehensive web-based offerings in Literacy (Writing Matters) and Social Studies (Voices and Choices). These programs combine rigorous curricula, innovative technology and professional development.

Key Qualifications:

  • Five years related sales and marketing experience in the K-12 market
  • Proven track record in finding new clients and closing sales
  • Conversant with K-12 instructional technology and ELA and Social Studies content
  • Knowledgeable about NYC ed tech and professional development markets
  • Teaching or school administrative experience preferred
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Confident and experienced presenter
  • Facility with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and the Internet
  • Ability to collaborate with team members

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for finding, cultivating and closing new sales in New York City and local metropolitan region
  • Closing new contracts
  • Meeting and exceeding sales projections
  • Preparing and presenting sales reports

Educational Consultants - Literacy

Teaching Matters seeks educational consultants to join our professional development team. We are searching for literacy specialists to support teachers with the implementation of our innovative web-based curriculum programs designed for New York City middle school English Language Arts classrooms. Our genre-based writing program emphasizes a balanced literacy philosophy supported by the effective use of new technology. Nationally recognized literacy experts including Georgia Heard, author of Awakening the Heart, Heather Lattimer, author of Thinking through Genre, and Janet Angelillo, author of Writing about Reading, are content consultants to this exciting new venture.

The primary role of the educational consultants will be to provide professional development support to teachers by modeling and co-teaching lessons, and conducting in-school workshops. These consultants will also have the opportunity to collaborate closely with colleagues and teachers to develop instructional and technology strategies that make the program successful in the schools.

Key Qualifications:

  • Three years (grades K-12) of teaching or equivalent experience, middle school/balanced literacy/writing workshop preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of English Language Arts curriculum and how technology can support this instruction
  • Professional development experience a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of classroom management strategies
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience in urban schools preferred
  • Facility with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and the Internet
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers and team members
