Teaching Matters believes that technology can greatly enhance learning on every level. We have created a menu of successful programs that can be used in classrooms for students in grades K-8. Our Teaching Matters' staff can work with teachers to implement our starter programs. 


tec_projectsTechnology Enhanced Curriculum Projects

Technology Enhanced Curriculum (T.E.C.) Projects are simple and engaging starter activities for teachers new to technology.

T.E.C. Projects are five to ten day projects that are aligned with your curriculum. From learning about the stock market to creating class yearbooks, there is something for everyone!

 

All About Me!

Grades: K - 2 
Students get the opportunity to express themselves in a project that combines the text, voice, and drawing features of Kid Pix Studio Deluxe. By the end of the unit, each class will have a slideshow featuring work completed by every student in the class.

Bring Poetry to Life Through Multimedia

Grades: 2 - 8 
Students compose, illustrate, and record their own original poems using a variety of multimedia applications.

Students Use: Kid Pix, PowerPoint, Apple iMovie, Windows Movie Maker

Class Academic Yearbook

Grades: 3 - 8 
Students review the academic year and choose their best work and/or favorite learning experiences for reflection and presentation.

Data and You

Grades: 4 - 8 
Using live data (i.e. stock market, sports or weather etc.) from reliable Internet sources, students develop questions, analyze trends, and make explanatory graphs and charts using AppleWorks or Excel spreadsheet software.

Digging For The Truth

Grades: 4 - 8 
Students use primary source documents collected from the Library of Congress' American Memories website to deliver a point of view on a particular topic in history. Students research a topic, write an essay with a point of view, and create a multi media presentation that captures their primary source photos and speech.

Students Use: Internet and PowerPoint, Apple iMovie, Windows Movie Maker
Students Create: Interactive Timeline

 

Digital Book Reports

Grades: 3 - 5
Students work in groups to retell and storyboard a piece of literature in their own words using multimedia.

Students Use: Powerpoint, Scanner
Students Create: Slideshow

 

Discoveries Through Data

Grades: 4 - 8 
Students investigate a topic using data analysis. Students develop a hypothesis, identify data elements, collect data through a survey or online research, and sort and analyze the data using a database. Final projects include a written interpretation of at least one key finding using graphs and charts.

Students Use: Appleworks or Word and Excel
Students Create: Database

 

Mind mapping for Reading Comprehension or Pre-Writing

Grades: 3 - 8 
Students create mind maps to demonstrate their understanding of a story. Mind maps will serve as an alternative assessment tool for teachers.
